Amelia Gene’s Receives Wine Spectator Award of Excellence

Amelia Gene’s, Memphis’ finest dining experience, has received the Award of Excellence designation from Wine Spectator.

“Across this year’s Wine Spectator Restaurant Award winners, we saw wine directors responding with thoughtfully curated programs that emphasize discovery, value and a sense of place,” said Wine Spectator in its announcement. “Guests are trading up for special bottles, exploring emerging regions and lesser-known varieties, embracing lighter styles and showing greater interest in wines produced with low-intervention farming practices.”

The Wine Spectator Restaurant Awards honor wine destinations across the globe, having awarded exceptional wine programs since 1981.

Amelia Gene’s wine program is led by sommelier Samuel Johnson, who has built and grown a prestigious wine program that responds to and reflects the restaurant’s continued culinary innovation. In addition to the restaurant’s popular Thursday tasting experience—which offers a rotating, seasonal five-course menu for $65 with a special additive wine pairing—the entirety of Amelia Gene’s a la carte menu by Executive Chef Nate Henssler has been designed to be paired with a pour from the restaurant’s expansive wine menu.

“The collective Amelia Gene’s experience is founded on providing a culinary experience you simply cannot find elsewhere,” said Jessica Henssler, Amelia Gene’s general manager. “We believe every element should push the envelope and exceed expectations. It’s an honor that Wine Spectator recognizes that intentionality.”
